I have 4 x 32 scope on my T9.1 Elite FS. The biggest issue with scopes/reflex sights/red dots is getting your eye in line with it while wearing a mask which can be difficult unless you use some sort of riser. If you do that then you need to adjust elevation setting on said device to make it true. More paintball marker makers are starting to take into account this goggle to sight issue by making the stocks sit a little lower like on the TM15. Over all though many people just use them for eye candy since a paintball doesnt fly straight alot of times.

Now where a scope set up properly can come in handy is with a marker that fire First Strike rounds. Since the projectile tends to travel straighter up to a certain point the use of a scope for shooting at the 150-300 ft range will likely work a bit better. I will be testing this out on my 9.1 elite fs once I get some of the minor issues sorted out with Tiberius Arms.

Shooting Paintball, scopes don't really help.  I had a 3x-9x scope on mine and I used it for recon, long range sighting of OPFOR movements.  That all it was useful for.  Sights work out and can be used/useful.

For example, 3 of my buddies and I played "Civil War" in the near dark where 2 of us faced the other 2 at about 50-60 feet away. Each side took turns firing one shot while the other side stood there and took it. It was quite a thing to hear the balls whizzing by and even funnier when the loud THWACK! was on your buddy next to you and not you. Anyone shot was out until one side won. Then we'd play again. All that was to say, that once I found a target in one round, using my red dot, I was able to get a hit on every other shot after that, using my red/green dot sight.

Before you go out and buy one, remember that in a fast game with quickly moving targets, they will be nearly useless and may just provide a larger profile allowing for an easier hit. Or you may get tagged by one of your opponents while still trying to sight a shot in on someone else - "tunnel vision".

Scopes in paintball DO work and work well.

There are only 3 things that you need to follow thou.

Scopes are label as MagnificationXdiameter size
Example ... 3x40 or 2x30
or adjustable zoom... 3-6x40

Rule 1)
Anything 3x Magnification won't do you any good.
Look for a 1.5x or 2x only....
(Example I use an adjustable 1.5-6x40)

Why? cause paintball's don't travel far enough to justify the magnification, and it'll just be frustrating trying to line up someone.

Rule 2)
You absolutely require some kind of sloped rail.
You can't dial in any normal firearm sight/scope for paintball unless the rail is sloped or the scope is shimmed.

The range adjustments on scopes don't allow you to aim the cross-hair low enough for paintball drop off.

Perfect solution, (that I use) is the Adjustable Sight Rail from Killjoy
http://killjoyindust...atinnyrail.html

Other than that, if you have a scope that uses scope rings, you need to shim up the back of the scope with a piece of cardboard or something between the scope itself and the scope ring.

But I seriously recommend the KillJoy sight rail.

Rule 3)

Eye-Relief.... (The distance between the scope and your eye)

Most standard rifle scopes are designed with the idea that your eye will be a few inches from the scope. You can't do this with a mask on, and you won't see crud through the scope.

So you need a scope with extra eye-relief. 6 to 8 inches is best...

"Pistol" Scopes have large eye-relief's that will work perfect with your mask on.
Make sure you don't get more than 10" eye-relief, otherwise that won't work either...

If you follow these rules, scopes work wonders in the paintball game, and if you have a decent accurate marker, you can easily put that first ball on mask every time.

Its hard to find a scope with the above criteria,
Illuminated (like I wanted) and cheap.

I'd link you where I got mine, but that site is gone now. Posted Image

I agree with ShadowRam. But you can always buy a red dot scope. I have a NCStar Aimpoint style on my carryhandle and it works perfectly for the ranges for paintball.

RED dots can either be mounted on picatinny or dovetail mounts depending on the rings. They mount just like any other scope. I have a NCStar mounted on a carryhandle mount. There are oter ways of mounting it with different mount combinations. You just have to find the one that's right for you.

You can find red dot sights all over the place. Any paintball websight or shooting supplies website should carry a selection of sights.

Paint ball guns don't fire far enough to use a scope. If you cant see that far with the naked eye you need glasses, not a scope lawl JK.

Red dot is the way to go, faster target acquisition.
