Also, when you are shot, you should walk AWAY from the action, not thru the middle of it.
As for calling yourself out, I believe in having a teammate check, or a ref. I've been hit in spots I can't check myself for bounce/break, like on my back, etc.

LOL. Paintballs end up in odd places.
Got your back against a palette and your reloading, they can go thru slots on the palette...
My experience is you can get hit in some of the oddest places, especially if its not completely solid cover.
You can get hit in the back laying down.

A good rule of thumb when playing in a scenario with elite or skilled teams, is to call yourself out once your hit and raise your hand right away. The competition and energy level is high during scenario and you could get lit up if you dont call yourself out right away. A player may have been playing honorably by tagging you with one or two balls, but if you decide to play on and check yourself later. I can tell you right now, there will be another 20 balls flying at you a few seconds later. A player that hit you will not take the chance of waiting for you to fire back at him and take him out while you check for paint. Cheating is not tolerated and honor is expected in the rings we travel. If you decide not to play honorably, you will find yourself heavily bonus balled.
If I get tagged with a solid hit, I will call myself out immediatly without checking. The player that hit you deserves the kill. After all he hit you dead on and thats honorable to give him the respect by acknowledging the hit even if it didnt break. Again, if you decide to wait and check later, dont complain when you get lit up seconds later. You took the risk. If your in a bunker and it was a glancing hit, then I will call for paint check by a team mate or ref.

I agree if your just playing a rec game, then train yourself to check before calling yourself out. I was just taking it a step further. If those rec players would like to try a scenario, it is important to be able to make the transition from rec to scenario.

The only time I don't like that is when the ball hits the side of the mask right where your ear is... makes me jump every time. hehe

We are always willing to teach new players the best way to call out and to use the honor system.

thats how i feel when i play if it's a good hit and i know it is i'll call myself out. i remember a game last summer were i had just walked out from behind a big ass tree and i just seen the glare on his mask like 50 feet away in a dam bush i almost got my gun up when Boom Boom Boom, three shots hit my belly within the size of a coffe cup. frist thing i did was put one hand on it hit's and the other up and called myself out, lol and i looked down none of them broke and there was 3 combat68's on the dam ground (lol they shoot nice but they dont break all the time)
