first off, Welcome to the forums!

It means your gun wont have enough air, to cycle completely when firing very quickly, making it de-cock. So the bigger hole lets more air through and therefore no "starvation".

Man, I always wondered why my gun De-cocked all the time, Sometimes it gets to the point where i just keep my finger close by to re-cock it. So once i get hold of a dremel drill, ill get to work, thanks man.

I'm thinking of doing this mod as well.. On my last outign whilst firing at 13bps full auto, the darn thing kept de cocking itself.. this maybe the cause I don't know.. I've given the inside bit of a clean with one of those little green pan scrubbers (very lightly) and some oil.. nothing too drastic for now.. a lot smoother in any case..
All I have is the standard drill bits, (will they do?).. and what i believe is the correct tape?? (pics below.. think it maybe for plumbing :suspicious: )

Drill bits will work fine for doing this mod, I've used them before, its just a tad more tricky.  Be careful not to damage the threads when drilling through the port...Drill half way through one side, then complete the rest on the other side...

As far as the tape, that will do just fine...

Tried the mod the other day.. was a successful mod, I didn't want to do too much in case I damaged it, as I have a game this Sunday coming, so couldn't afford any mistakes. (Unfortunately I did catch the threads once or twice with my drapper 'dremil' tool (Unavoidable as its awkward to hold), but everything is ok.. just took my time!

Congrats on a job well done mate...You shouldn't have any starvation issues now...

I know its hard to tell, but you think it's good enough.. expanded the hole enough...
I was very aware of the screw holes running through the centre of the ASA, my two major fears were drilling too much and making a hole just at those areas, and seriously catching the threads (which i did but only slightly touched them).

For people wanting to do this mod, I'd suggest clamping it down somehow.. it's a slippery little sod in a vice.  :dead:

Is there a actual performance replacement part that I can purchase instead of drilling the existing piece?

I just finished moding my ASA. This is my second attempt I tried using a dremil the first time but ended up drilling right through to the hole that the bolts that hold it to the gun go. After that I grabbed my spare ASA and tried it again this time I used my drill with a 3/16 drill bit. It was easier to hold and control and the hole was a lot more uniform I would recommend it and people with out a dremil can have another option.

Thanks for the video!! I've been having this issue ever since buying the EGrip. Will be trying the mod asap. Besides drilling it out (which is already in the process) - Is there another ASA that has better air flow? The ASA on my 98c looks pretty much the same so I'm not too sure.

Thanks again!

Yeah I was looking at my 98c ASA but the port looked the same so I decided to just drill it out instead of swapping them. Hopefully this will work.

My understanding (and I admit, it's just my understanding, 'cuz I've never actually looked at a 98c ASA to compare), is that the port is in a slightly different location on the 98c ASA, so the bottle/remote adapter doesn't block it to the same extent.
