In my never ending quest to be helpful or read my own words I thought I'd post up what a new paintballer needs to bring to the field to have fun! Now remember I wrote need's. What you need to have a fun day. And I'm not talking spending a fortune. I'm going to assume you have a gun/BT because your here. So you have a gun, loader and tank, easy right! Ok now do you own a mask? No, you can rent one if you have not made the investment. But I would say no to renting a mask. They are never a good quality mask or do they ever have a thermal lens. So for me I would say this is a must to have a good day. Ok clothes. Guess what you don’t need to spend a ton on this. Jeans and a dark sweat shirt or dark long sleeve T shirt if it's hot. A baseball hat to wear backwards for a little frontal lobe protection! I wear football cleats in the heat and cold weather combat boots in the winter. Do you have work boots? Then you’re good. Next find a bring your own paint to the field because you can always get a better deal on paint at a shop. Then I would say bring a little pocket money to buy a couple of drinks and maybe a hot dog if your so inclined. I would bring some small tools to work on your gun if you have a problem. On this topic I would insist you learn how to do basic repairs, O rings and what not! A spray bottle with one third alcohol and water and a role of paper towels to clean your goggles and gun between games. If you have a couple of friends bring them and a good attitude.  Remember we all aim and fire the only difference is I have done it over 500 times. What I did in the beginning was to find a guy who knew what he was doing and followed him. This is a basic survival guide and I hope I didn't miss much but I'm sure I did and we should get some good Ideas flowing! But most of all play with Honor!  Feyd.............

Dealing with the heat during summer can be your major enemy. Here some basic things that helped me to last longer:

1. Drink water BEFORE you play.  Best is, you start the day before.  It takes up to 8 hours before your body has up-sorbed your water intake. So, hydrate the night before (I would recommend non-alcoholic drinks :-P )
2. Drink water or electrolyte base drinks (e.g. Gatorate) inbetween the brakes/rounds, also if you do not feel thirsty.
3. Avoid greasy food. Bring some energy bars/gel, fruits.
4. Avoid cotton based T-Shirts as they soak up your sweat.  I am using some polyester based running t-shirts.  They will funnel your sweat from your body and dry quickly. The same is true for socks.
5. Bring a towel, so you can wipe your sweat or soak it in water to cool you off.
6. If you play in the sun, you want bring some sun blocker for the uncovered body parts.

Thanks man and please add to it because there's probably regional things I don't know about like is there bring your own paint fields in Canada? Do I need  Moose repellent? (LOL) I'm sure there's lots of ideas to add that might just appeal /mean more too some one that I missed. Feyd.....

well im a canadian so ill cover some things that you missed:

1. Bug Spray: one of the worst game killers is feeling the need to slap that mosquito while your covering 3 targets.
2. Medical stuff: Just some band aids and antiseptic-spray, for those cuts when you run it to that tree that just popped out of no where(riiiiiiight).
3. Extra clothing: not necessary but if your getting a ride in your buddy's truck his mom might not be so happy if you leave paint splats on her brand new 2009 ford f350's tan leather seats.
4. other things that i cant remember, other people will fill them in for me.

No, but no matter where you are in Canada, bring insect repellant! The moquitos are trying to take us over up here, and the only thing that keeps them in check is the frigid winters...

Depending on where you play you may or may not need to do this.  I find it useful to bring a cooler full of ice with me.  Not only does it keep my drinks cool.  I also put my extra tanks (I run CO2) in there.  You never want to hear a hot tank of CO2 go off in your truck trust me.  The cooler also keeps the empties chilled for refilling.

Hehe reminds me of the last game I played, afterward we needed to cool down the beers we just threw into the cooler.  10 seconds of spraying CO2 from the fill tank chilled em right down.  :)

I keep my camel pack in my cooler as well until I need it on the field.  It is great on your back in 90+deg weather and stays cold for over an hour or so.

Yea, like the other guy said, find yourself a good byop field, get some good paint. but the #1 thing that bothers me when I go paintballing is getting very hot. ALWAYS ALWAYS bring a good source of water you will get hot (depending on your style of play) but you should bring along your allen keys, and your spare parts kit, just incase anything breaks, or just incase you are required to change your velocity, which most of the time you will be required to.

Try to bring a cloth, or mabye a towel like stated before, because of the fact that you will get shot, you should be able to wipe it off, if you are really competative you would be able to bring a pack.

Hey OOO let me guess you have ran into the trees before? AND you have sat in your buddys car leaving paint everywhere....My buddy has had his rented goggles fog up and during a fight he ran and tripped over a fallen tree and his ankle grew about 3 times the size of normal then the next time we went he tripped in a hole as he was running to cover and did the same thing to the same ankle. His ankle is all messed up now so over all the one thing I would suggest that everyone have is some kind of shoes that go above your ankle as you never know when this could happen. I wear Law Enforcement boots and I absolutely love them. They are waterproof and everything. I dont know what I would do with out them at the wet field that I play at....

well i was cleaning out my gear bags, and on the last one i figured i'd lay it all out for you guys.

.. i'm what you call a.. uhhh,,, "boyscout" ?
any how, i usually bring just this one bag i've laid out,, but i've got 3 more filled with more makers and stuff, they're all filled with the appropriate items that i can just bring any ONE and be able to play and supply several others with gear to play too.. but i occasionally bring all four to big games.

also in the picture is a cooler, for paint and behind the table a big black plastic tote with 8 more JT masks (elite and flex).. .not in the pic that i alsways bring is atleast one of many many many 3000, 3300, or 4500psi compressed air (scuba/scott.. aka firemans) tanks.. or my gas powered HPA compressor and also CO2 fill station and tanks.
.. the vest and tiberius case is also full of gear.. i wasn't empying them.. things like squeegees tools, etc.

Great post's guy's keep'em coming! I first posted this before the heat really hit around here. I also run a camel back. I would also recommend a gallon of water for the day. Last weekend at Canobie paintball I lent out my squeegee at least three times. And I went through a role of paper towels and most of my lens cleaner. I also forgot to say I wear cleats to play in, and I wear sandals to the park as well as a change of clothes for after. So I hope the ideas posted help and thanks to all those who helped out with this thread! Feyd...................
