I'm new to paint ball and my two sons have dragged me out to try it.  I love it!  I expect a lot of iditos on the field and as a father was concerned about my boys.  I was gerneally and have been regularly impressed with the maturity of everyone playing.

Since being dragged out my two kids have purchased their own markers ( Tippman) and I have puchased my own BT 4 Combat.

I have been reading as much as I can on the web but I am still confused on two area's

1 - Length of barrel- Does this increase range or just accuracy?
The reason I ask is I a deciding to either upgrade the barrel or just puchasing the Delta elite upgrade kit for 150 .  I don't really care about the mag etc.  but I beleive it it worth it for the RIPCLIP, stock and the APEX barrel alone.     I am hoping this will increase my range but also my accurancy.

2 - Is it possible to mount the CO2 canisterdirectly under the gun or on the side of the gun?

3 - Is it possible to mount the hopper on the side.

I want to make my kids jealous.!

Thank !

Hi Sanctuarymind, first welcome to BT:WO!

So let's start on your questions.

1. Length of barrel tends to be a gray area, some people says it does and doesn't affect range and/or accuracy. I personally find that it does not affect either. I find that the quality of barrel is what truly increases/decreases accuracy and range.

2. I have never really thought about mounting that thing under or to the side of the gun to be honest with you. I suspect with some fittings and macro line you could probably bring it to the side and strap the tank to the butt stock if you have one.
Click here for an idea of how that may be possible. You can also PM Feyd.

3. The easiest way to get the hopper out of the way is with a rip clip and an x7 hopper or a tac cap if you don't mind playing with limited rounds. You can also go with a Q-loader. I personally enjoy my rip clip because I can slap my x7 hopper on it have have 200rds to shoot or a tac cap and have anywhere between 30 (lowest setting) to 100 rds to play with.

I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing you around the forums.

Well like stated the length of the barrel isn't always what increases accuracy. It has to do with the bore size of the barrel vs the bore size of the paint. If your barrel is a .688 bore size and the paint you are shooting is .683 then you likely won't be getting the maximum accuracy and efficiency. An apex though will increase range by a significant amount and allow you to do drop shots, curves, etc. You can do the flatline effect on it which is similar to a Tippmann flatline barrel which increases distance by 100 feet. The Apex though is less picky on paint and imo looks nice when matched with a cool shroud. Also, I recommend using HPA which keeps your gun shooting consistenly which in turn should improve accuracy.

If you don't like the idea of the tank sticking ou the back, you can use a remote line which can be found on just about any paintball webiste around the world. It will also lighten your gun and take less of a tole on your wrists after a long game...

And I agree with Warmachine. A rip clip with X7 hopper would be an awesome upgrade which will allow you to use red dots/ scopes. If you like limited ammo and a more milsim look, go with a tac cap. You can find ones that adjust from 30 to 50 or you could even make your own out of a paintball pod. It makes your gun look that much better, and cuts down on the profile of your gun.

Hope this helps, and happy hunting SanctuaryMind

Welcome Sancturarymind to BT Warrior!  As one of, not THE, oldest ones here, I understand what you went through.  I myself had my son tell me he wanted to play paintball and needed a gun and such so he could play with his friends.  I thought that was bogus and said no.  Well after being nagged, I did some research on the internet and found it wasn't that bad.  From there on I joined him and well look at where we are.

Your markers can be made into an M4, MP5, G36, etc so if you can tell me what you want to go with it, we can make suggestions.  I use a Sniper type, an MP-5A3 and an M4 with or without the M203 grenade launcher.  I never wanted to hook my tank to the bottom of the marker (Its called the ASA - Air Supply Adapter).  As the gun gets bigger and larger it gets heavier so I use a Military 3pt sling for the big boys.  I'd recommend the Rip Clip, a high speed, offset hopper system that is very low profile.

Check out the gallery here maybe you can find something you like.

Like I said, just tell us where you want to go with it and we can get you started..

Again welcome aboard.

Welcome to the board and to paintball!

I agree with all the info given.

This may be the part you are looking for. Mounts the bottle forward underneath the barrel.

Welcome...

There are endless styles/mods you can do to that Bt4...Tom Cat has a varied collection which will show you what we here are talking about.
From what was stated above....Barrel length does not aid in distance nor accuracy. It is the quality of the barrel mixed with the quality of the paint you will use.

I use a Delta Elite for close quarter combat/Indoor play and a modded BT4 M4 combat for outdoor play. Both have ripclip and egrip and I run a remote air source.
Because it is less weight, less bulk and you will see a big difference in the handling of your marker by going with a remote attachment and your tank on your back.

With the upgrades you may get. Consider the Egrip to go with that ripclip. You will have a faster rate of fire and put your opponents down in shame...;)

If you got questions ask away you will have tonnes of answers with great info.

I agree with the egrip idea. You will definitely show your kids up when you spray some full auto paint there way!!! It does end up costing a decent amount in paint but it is worth it. It makes you feel so goooood!!! :freaked:

Welcome to the Warrior! Congrats on the BT-4 its a great gun and you can beat the crap out of it. Just clean it and oil it and your good to go.
1: Barrel length? I run a 14" barrel on all my guns. Why, so I can stick it out through branches. 12" to 14" seems to be about right. I would just focus on the quality of the barrel and paint to bore size. I love kit's!
2: You need to drill to do that mod. I would leave it stock and go HPA instead of C02. Maybe get a CP ASA and mini drop. Mounting under the gun is possible but you run the risk of getting liquid C02 into the valve. Not good to do.
3: The Rip clip is on the side. Run that with a Tac-cap 50 shot capacity or the X-7 hopper. My favorite!
4:The E-trigger is a great upgrade! You will shoot more paint remember that. But that is a very walkable trigger!
So I will summarize my recommendations. HPA or Nitro 68/4500 will be great! Rip CLip with X-7 hopper & E-trigger. 12 or 14" barrel depending on what you like the look of. Just a quality barrel. I recommend the Flasc barrel kit. You can add an Apex tip to it or any other tip he offers, that or a Lapco if money's tight and you want an Apex tip. .687 seems to be the size that is what paint has been running at lately. If you shoot fast you don't want to under bore. You will break paint!
                 Hope this helps. Feyd.............
