After a long discussion in our Moderator forum we have decided to remove the post count incrementation.

The forum will STILL count posts. But the number will not be seen anymore.

This is a pity I know but we have had people posting just to get their numbers up.

This is NOT what this forum is about.

We are here to provide a place to discuss and share information.

Our previous warnings to a very, very small number of members have fallen on deaf ears. The result is it's now gone for all.

Please do not ask our Mods or Admins about this. There are no plans to bring it back.

So again for the record. Your posts ARE BEING COUNTED by the forum software, which means you will STILL be able to move up in the 'ranks' we have here. But the NUMBER will NOT be shown anymore.

Sorry it had to end like this for the majority of you.

Regards,

If you haven't done so you might want to adjust the BST section to reflect the Rank needed over the post count needed.

Goose- The site will still count the number of posts per person, it will just not display it. Therefore they will still be allowed into the BST at the proper time. We'll see about changing the wording to rank as opposed to post count.

could it be possible to add a transaction rating system instead of the post count? just to feel safer doing transactions because normally i trust someone with a higher post count. just a simple + 1 / - 1 rating would be nice.

Who cares? I never thought about it until the 1000 post mark. But it should be about content not quantity! Feyd.......

As the system was being abused it had to be removed as for LT DANs comment I would suggest if you are about to enter into transactions with any one you can check the type of posts they have made may give you and idea as to if they are reliable or not. Unfortunealty any system that relies on strickly numbers is open to abuse.

I do really like how some forums have a rep system, when someone makes a very good or usefull or helpfull thread people can "rep" them or if they mislead someone you can (whatever the opposite of rep is) then, so if someones got say 200 reps, you know they generally know what theyre talking about vs someone who has 2 or even a negitive number

We have that system here too..Problem is it also allows negative rep and that was being abused.

But I did as you suggested anyway..The BST rules reflect the Rank not Post count. As Mogrove says the forum really IS still counting posts. We just took the visual part of it away.

When you get into a rep style board you run the risk of it becoming a popularity contest. Or people who have say a disagreement end up slamming each other. At the end of the day be helpful and positive and people will know you for that. Feyd..........

maybe you could ask for their eBay name and check their rating before making any transactions.

Isn't the red/green thing at the bottom right of posts a rating system? I have used it in the past for posts that I have found extremely helpful...
