Hi, I'm Mich, sorry I'm not a regular poster or anything on here.  I've been a Tippmann guy for awhile but my best friend Russ, (who you know as Irontalon around here) finally convinced me to get a TM7.  Well that brings me to my current situation here, the only thing I have not liked about the TM7 is the sliding stock.  So I've been thinking of ways to rectify that.  And I just like being different anyway so I set out to make a TM7 my way, and didn't want to conform and just buy a TM15

I just need some thoughts on this from people that have much more experience with the TM7 than I.  I set out Monday brainstorming in Autocad about different ways to moutn a Mil-Spec buffer tube to the back of a TM7.  After throwing some ideas away this came down to the easiest and most practical way I could picture it.

It only requires two modifications to a stock TM7.  Firstly the back   shell screw needs to be relocated as where it is now inside the body   will be shaved off to fit this tube.

The second thing is that two holes will have to be drilled on the side   of the shells for the mounting screws.  Not sure how big those holes   should be or if I should just do away with the threading and have  massive  bolt running from side to side.

Thoughts?  Any and all opinions are welcome.  I'm hoping I can figure out if this is the best approach or not rather soon so hopefully I can have this machined and in place by the time Risk VI rolls around March 12.

I've machined and modified a few buffer tubes  for Tippmanns and Bt's in My time!...The only thing that has kept me from modifing the TM7 is the plastic shell!
If I machined an adapter out of aluminum,it will add a little weight to that flimsy plastic shell, nevermind the extra weight of a Magpul ACR or UBR stock .
It has to be rock solid for me....or I'm not going to be happy!...
I know Soggy has mounted TM15 stock on a TM7.

No need to modify your shells at all.

Still have it actually. :)

I thought about exploring something like the 98C stock but the problem with that is it uses a different size buffer tube.  The stock I want (and that is on the way in the mail) is coming on a Mil-Spec buffer tube so without those 1-3/16" threads it's useless.

I think I may have figured out a way that shouldn't tear up the shell that much though.  If I take a piece of something like 0.080GA aluminum that is about 1/4-1/2" wide and kind of pound it around the inside of the shell where the bolts will be going in that should stop those mounting bolts from tearing up the plastic as well as keep everything solid.  We'll see how it turns out.

Will the stock come off the tube and fit on a 98 tube? You can have this adapter if it's any use to you, bro.

Unfortunately no, the stock has a little different setup so it won't work on normal tubes.  And if it did the commercial size tube that 98's and Tm15's use is a little wider than the Mil-Spec ones I'm looking to use.

Well, it's kind of done.  I had to take some pictures of it for the Marker of the Month contest over on the X7OG so the adapter is just slid in the back and held in by the force of the closed shells for now.  It's pretty snug but definitely not stable enough for game use purposes, I'll have to get those bolts on the side before I plan on using it.
