Hey All,

Going to buy a Deadlywind Fibur barrel, however, I can't decide what size to buy because I'm not sure if size affects performance.  Will I get better performance with with a longer one rather than a short one?  I'd rather get the short one 10" but if I'll get better accuracy/performance with a 12" or 14" I'll go with one of those.

Any help/advise is greatly appreaciated.

Happy New Year!

Thanks,
Merc

There have been lots of tests done on barrel size. Fish around on the site and you'll find them. Bottom line- 12-14 is where you'll max out on efficiency. Anything after that you wasting air trying the propel the ball down the longer barrel. I'm sure a bunch of smarter guys will follow up on this post and give you the science behind it.
Cheers!

Accuracy is all about the quality of your paint, though using a larger bore size has also been seen to improve it.  If performance = efficiency, pretty much what Gato said.

Accuracy is not affected by the barrel. Although 14" is the optimum barrel these days because it feels the most comfortable for people, you can use whatever barrel size you want. The onyl thing that affects accuracy is really the paint. Use higher qulaity paint, and you will get better results out of your TM7. With a shorter barrel though, you will generally have to increase velocity to compensate for the lack of size which in turn lowers efficiency. Underboring though should make up for that for the most part since it will make your shots more consistent over the chrono.
