I will stop firing if I get hit to check for a break. If no break, Ill keep playing. Ive had it plenty of times where I had several bounces in one skirmish, and either eventually get the guy, or catch an actual hit. Ill shout to the dude that it was a good shot and all and if I can find him afterwards shake his hand for keeping at it and not spazzing out calling me names and whatnot.
I don't like gun hits at all. Not for the fact that its either lifelike or not, but if you take a hit on the front right side of the hopper, you don't feel the hit, you can't see the hit, and usually you can't hear the hit. On top of that, my gun usually takes a ton of splatter while I am in a bunker. I don't want to take out a micro to wipe off the splatter and make it look like I'm wiping actual hits off.

Yes i dislike gun hits as well. i dont think it should count but i have played against people who i hit in the gun torso and everywhere else from probably 75 - 100 feet and it breaks and they cheat and stay in the game. That makes me mad. People who have no honour watsoever.

This makes me mad to no end.
This kind of acceptance at the speed-ball level is ruining their sport, and ours.
If I get hit, I check it,
If I can't check it, I get someone else to check it.
If no one is around to check it, I call myself out.
You "hit" me, break or no break, its still a hit.
and since I'm not 100% if it broke or not? you still hit me with a ball, and I'm out.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is why I play scenarios and not speedball. In general the players are more honest and a touch more humble when playing a scenario. Honesty is key. When you see someone get hit and they keep on playing, it's very frustrating. However, after the ref checks em, they always seem to get shot by somebody on their way out.......

We were play 3V3 a couple of weeks ago at our outlaw Field with very good players. At one point I was the one in a 2 on 1. I ran at one and got him out and ended up in a gun battle with probably the best snap shooter I have ever played against. Now he is using a ReDux and I'm using a T-2 with a full hopper and we were just going at it! Well neither one would give an inch and he ended up calling himself out on indirect spray. I just kept shooting at him so he could not snap me out. He's that good! When I did let him get a shot off it missed by inches. What a laugh that was! I just told him I was not going to let him get a good shot at me! So I did use the auto trigger to keep his head down! He said so many shot just broke next to his head or on wood in front of him he just couldn't get me. So he called himself. What a gentalman! Feyd.........

Just on the topic of marker hits, I consider them a necessary evil for the most part. Mostly to stop blind firing. And it does almost always give someone "A target". I have played on fields that do the different rules on where hits count, and hits anywhere is far simplier and overall more fair to play by.

I'm really dissapointed with some of the stuff I read on other forums, wiping is considered a risk vs reward option and since there are penalties they feel it's the same as any random penelty in other team sports.
It really not like any other team sport. Maybe golf where if a pro player wasn't watched he'd be able to "risk" giving himself a better shot of he found himself in a bad spot. Either way it's cheating and that mentality needs to be stomped out of this sport.
The UWL recently banned a player for what started with wiping and escalated. And people are actually against harsh penalties thinking it would kill the sport. In my view it would grow the sport. I tried playing indoor reball but couldn't handle the number of kids just ignoring hits.

If I see an older player wipe or pop back out after I know I hit him and it broke I will usually try to signal a paint check from a ref. If the guys been wiping all day I'll just go full auto and light him up. I hate players that do that crap.

last year we had a crew of owners on a walk in at Ultimate paintbal that asked to join up with us because there were not showing a lot of renters in our group. Fine, they had tac caps and 50 round hoppers so I figured they'd be a challenge.
well was I wrong, they refused to leave after getting hit multiple times (obvious hits), the ref was so confused and wouldn't do anything about it even after all of us complained after the game finished.
So the next game, I took got my friend to come with me and as I kept firing at one guy to keep him behind his tree my friend flanked him and just lit him up. Well this guy was not very impressed and called foul on us letting loose a fog of blue swears that would make a biker blush. I approached the guy and his friends to explain the issue. Several comments were made regarding my mother and as I returned to my group we asked the ref to move them to another group of walkons.
some people just don't get it.
I accept it with the new people and even with the younger inexperienced players, but not in veterans.
